ALP-X WINDSTOPPER® Insulated Shell Vest
pricey but good if you ride in deep cold
I originally bought this vest to layer under a Phantom jacket in winter, but eventually put it to the side as due to cold arms I ended up buying an Alp-X. When I added the Fusion Tool into the mix for dry cold weather it seemed that this vest was destined to languish on the shelf. Yet this is a 5 star review, and the reason is that as the weather moved into polar vortex territory I found that with a merino base layer, this vest as a midlayer and either the Alp-X or Tool jacket on top I could comfortably ride in even the severest cold. I have also started to wear this as a midlayer for non-bike jackets as well when the temperature really drops. Size size I am 5'11" and 165 pounds, the medium is a comfortable fit. So, if you have some money to burn, and you live and ride somewhere that gets truly cold (think subzero with wind chill) this is a decent way to spend it.
