OXYGEN GORE-TEX® Active Jacket
Love the ActiveShell material
Previously, I have used both Paclite as well as regular GoreTex jackets for biking, but they were not nearly as good as this jacket. The Paclite is easy to stuff away, but you sweat in it very quickly. The GoreTex jacket was a previous generation that had tiny little holes in the material which provided good breathability, but not so good temperature management and I often got cold after sweating. The Windstopper material is breathable and great for temperature management, but they can be a little bulky for a jersey pocket due to the additional liner that make them more comfortable on the skin, and of course they are not waterproof. I have bought this ActiveShell product, and it has it all: Good next to skin comfort, waterproof, good temperature management, and very packable. I can wear it in rain, and simply as a lightweight jacket to keep me warm. The overall quality is solid. It has a plastic zipper, but seems pretty robust and lightweight. The only thing I found a little silly were the zippers in the arms. Why not use the traditional velcro tighteners?

Simple but effective
I have had this jacket for about 12 months and it looks and feels like new. The fabric is supremely breathable for Goretex and I often wear three layers through the winter with this as the shell. The sleeves are slim fitting although it has a bit of room in the shoulders, the collar is flush and comfortable. A small pocket would be a bonus for a credit card or ID but its absence isn't a deal breaker for me as a commuter. I haven't packed it into a jersey pocket as it tends to go on and stay on with temp regulation achieved through sleeve venting and main zip. It's a great all round piece of kit for the regular cyclist.
It does its job very well without being noticed by the wearer which i think is what it should do.

I've always been really happy with products from Gore and this jacket with the Active Shell is no exception. Does an excellent job in the rain - I live in Seattle and there are a lot of days to test this out. Stays dry inside the whole time, seams included. This jacket is not as breathable as a product with DWR coating, but actually will keep the water out! Probably best used below 55 F. Why is it not 5 stars? On the max end of something packable in the jersey pocket and could do for some sort of venting option - like a rear velcro something vent?
Overall, a great jacket. I would buy another one, no problem. The fit is very good for a cyclist - on the slimmer side in the shoulders, but with adequate arm and back coverage.
