These pants have so greatly exceeded my expectations in performance and comfort, I now compare all of my outerwear gear to the ALP-X 2.0 SS pant. I have a medical condition that prevents me from driving so I commute by bike, everywhere in all weather conditions. I wear these next to skin in 15F - 45F and have no perspiration or wind issues, and huge bonus, they feel so silky soft on the skin I really hate to take them off after the ride. When it gets colder I rock 200g merino but its usually too heavy, I need 150g. These pants are so hydrophobic that you can keep riding in a light rain and stay dry but a downpour will wet them out. The vents are so amazingly placed to zip with one hand and dumps heat without sacrificing wind protection. I feel like my bike and I are one with these pants on. Now these can take a punch too, I've hit my shins and knees a few times getting wild on the trail and there are no holes or abrasions on the fabric but I sure was bleeding. The efficiency of my ride has increased so much, my mind is seriously blown. These pants have increased the enjoyment factor of my ride so much, I love them! Thank you Gore!

Enough said, this is beyond doubt the best and the most versatile piece of bike apparel I have ever owned. I have been using them exclusively for the since November. My commuter buddy owned one for more than 2 years. I wash them at least once a week or even more and have not noted any wear yet.
With a liner or a tight, they kept me warm in temperature well below 0F with terrible windchill, but they are also usable for temperature up to mid 50F with a short as they have multiple vents for cooling.
Somebody nicknamed them the Magic Pants, and I could not agree more.

I felt compelled to write this review because I love these pants and think Gore should continue to develop and promote the line in spite of the inexplicably negative reviews posted by others. As someone who has completely shredded two supposed mountain bike shorts and pants in the last WEEK, I can tell you that complaints about the quality and durability of this garment are UNFOUNDED. I have searched literally across the internet and nearly a dozen bike shops for all-purpose cold weather pants that aren't tights but slim enough for all mountain. I can wear these to and from the trail without being laughed out of the coffee shop and they can certainly handle whatever you dish out while riding. These pants are fantastic at temps in the 20s-40s (maybe lower for all I know). I love the form and function of these pants and would highly recommend them. To my friends at Gore: Keep this line alive and continue to improve and market this line! If not, let me know and I'll help buy out your remaining stock. :)
