Rated 5 out of 5 by TAD Excellent Everyday Short
I have both Alp-X and Countdown apparel. The Countdown short is a bit baggier and thinner than the Alp-X shorts. I like the Countdown gear for shorter, casual rides, or when I expect conditions to be sloppy. These shorts are well-made and comfortable. I wear them with the inner short (sold separately, or together in the "+" version). I like the 12" inseam, perfect in my view. I have about 700 miles on these and they are showing no signs of wear, although I am not as hard on my gear as some. The shorts have belt loops, but a belt isn't necessary (and GBW does not sell them).

Rated 4 out of 5 by jughead27 Great shorts for casual mountain biking
I've had these shorts for over a year now and they have stood up to everything I've done.
I work at a mountain bike camp, where I'm on and off the bike constantly throughout the day. Most other shorts I've used wear through in the crotch after a summer's use. These have stood up to 2 summer's of use and show little signs of wear.
They look good, not like some bike shorts that are overly flashy, and they feel good. Very lightweight material that dries well. I often swim after rides and am dry by the time I get home.
I always like having a back zippered pocket, but many I've used are too small for anything other than a car key. This one is much larger and can fit my i-phone easily.
Biggest issues I have with the shorts are the front hand pockets are uselessly small. I can't put anything in them for more than a 10ft walk without fearing it has fallen out. There are velcro pockets lower on the front leg that can old your stuff, but I hate velcro...
Overall great, tough shorts. Very comfortable and easy to wear.
I need to disclose that I am a Gore Tex Brand Mountain Techs member. I receive products from them and submit reviews. This review is uninfluenced by gore-tex and was done on my own accord.
